Fluorite is a crystal composed of Calcium and Fluoride. It is so named due to the fact that it is the first mineral to show fluorescence under certain lighting. In its pure state, fluorite is colourless. The electric colours in fluorite crystals are due to the impurities and/or hydrocarbons.
Fluorite is often found coated with other minerals such as calcite, quartz or pyrite.
