MAGNETITE

May 15, 2017

MAGNETITE Magnetite is one of the three common naturally occurring types of iron oxides. This mineral is what you would call ferromagnetic, meaning the opposing magnetic moments of the atoms are uneven, and, as a result, spontaneous magnetism occurs. This is why magnetite is attracted to magnets and can even be magnetized to become a magnet itself. Commonly known as Lodestone, this rock is the only naturally occurring mineral that is a natural magnet. Magnetite is often used as an indicator mineral for certain ore deposits, particularly those from hydrothermal vents. It is also used for catalysis in the industrial synthesis of ammonia, as a coating for industrial steam boilers due to its stability at high temperatures, and used to absorb arsenic (III) and arsenic (V) from water.   PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Chemical Composition: (Fe²⁺Fe₂³⁺O₄) Lustre: metallic or dull Hardness: 5.5 – 6.5 Colour: Black   HEALING PROPERTIES:

  • Releases stress
  • Grounds and energizes
  • Aids with meditation
  • Balances
  • Has anti inflammatory properties
  • Relieves muscle aches and pains
  • Aids with asthma
  • Improves the blood and the circulatory system
  • Beneficial for the skin and hair

HALITE Halite, also commonly known as rock salt, is the mineral form of Sodium Chloride. Halite is often found alongside other evaporate minerals that result from the drying/evaporation of lakes and seas. Other evaporates (water soluble mineral sediments that have been concentrated and crystallized by evaporation) that are often found alongside Halite are: sulphides, halides, and borates. Halite is often used to lower the freezing point of ice (freezing-point depression), especially by homeowners in colder climates to melt the ice from their driveways and sidewalks. Some places also add this salt to the roads during snow storms to improve traction. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Hardness: 2 Colour: Can be colourless, white, red, yellow, orange, pink, blue, violet, green, and grey. Halite can also be multicoloured. Lustre: Vitreous Chemical Composition: NaCl (sodium chloride)   HEALING PROPERTIES:

  • Detects negative influences
  • Aids in the effectiveness of the immune system
  • Maintains the salt balance in the body
  • Stabilizes the emotions
  • Removes environmental pollution (effective by placing bowls of salt or pieces of halite around the home).
  • Balances the body’s energies
  • Used to alleviate blood disorders, low blood pressure, and aid with the intestines.
  • Blue halite is often used for the thymus, t

Smoky quartz is formed when the aluminium impurities in clear quartz are subjected to radioactive decay. If there is enough aluminium in the crystal, the colour of the quartz can turn completely black. This rock is called morian. When treated with enough heat, the crystal will become clear again.

HEALING PROPERTIES:

.Concentrates energy .Aids focus .Calming .Grounding .Draws out negative energy
