Sugar Addiction (1st of 3post series)

What is sugar?

vasi - sugarSugar is the generic term for the sweet soluble carbohydrate obtained from various plants, particularly sugar cane and sugar beet, which is used in food. There are different classes of sugar, each derived from different sources. Simple sugars include glucose, fructose, and galactose. Glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆) originates in the blood as animals as blood sugar and is the most important energy source for cellular respiration. Fructose (C₆H₁₂O₆), also known as fruit sugar, is often found in many plants such as tree and vine fruits, flowers, berries, and most root vegetables. Galactose (C₆H₁₂O₆) is ingested in the form of lactose from dairy products, which then is converted to galactose and glucose via digestion. Each of these sugars has the same chemica

Feldenkrais Method

Feldenkrais Method is a holistic healing modality or exercise therapy designed by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984). It aims to improve body movement in function, efficiency, and psychological state by reorganizing connections between the brain and body.

Benefits of the Feldenkrais Method

Healing of repetitive strain injuries. Pressure on joints and other weak points. General improvement of well-being. The Feldenkrais Method is considered part of integrative/complementary medicine. According to Feldenkrais good health is founded on good function. Self-education is central to the practice. Pupils are taught to become aware of their movements to discover areas of stress and strain. Acting on this information leads to a re-education of the nervous system. The method uses slow gentle repetitive movements and attempts to teach new patterns. The method has proven its self especially beneficial to musicians and also to athletes, children with autism, people with special needs

MAGNETITE Magnetite is one of the three common naturally occurring types of iron oxides. This mineral is what you would call ferromagnetic, meaning the opposing magnetic moments of the atoms are uneven, and, as a result, spontaneous magnetism occurs. This is why magnetite is attracted to magnets and can even be magnetized to become a magnet itself. Commonly known as Lodestone, this rock is the only naturally occurring mineral that is a natural magnet. Magnetite is often used as an indicator mineral for certain ore deposits, particularly those from hydrothermal vents. It is also used for catalysis in the industrial synthesis of ammonia, as a coating for industrial steam boilers due to its stability at high temperatures, and used to absorb arsenic (III) and arsenic (V) from water.   PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Chemical Composition: (Fe²⁺Fe₂³⁺O₄) Lustre: metallic or dull Hardness: 5.5 – 6.5 Colour: Black   HEALING PROPERTIES:

Diabetes is a chronic condition where an individual’s body cannot maintain healthy levels of glucose in the blood. Unhealthy blood glucose levels can lead to a variety of long term and short term problems. Glucose is a type of sugar, and is the body’s main source of energy. To function properly, our bodies require sugars (glucose) to be converted into energy. The hormone, insulin, is essential for the conversion of glucose to energy, and is therefore responsible for stabilizing the amount of sugar in the blood. People with diabetes tend to have insufficient insulin levels which results in a build-up of glucose in the blood. There are three main types of diabetes:
