Moonstone

Moonstone, scientifically known as Adularia, is a less common variety of the mineral Feldspar. It is formed when two feldspar species, orthosclase and albite, mix and, as the new mineral cools, the orthoclase and albite form in alternating layers. When light hits these layers, it reflects and scatters, causing the pearly lustre that is known as adularescence.
